Introducing Mr. Chris Jones

Middle School Language Arts Teacher

by Jessica Hylton

September 02, 2011

Mr. Chris Jones is a new teacher this year. He is currently is teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth grade English and Reading, but in the past he has taught sixth grade Language Arts and Reading. He has been a teacher for one year.  He wanted to teach at Avilla because it is a small school, and because it is a lot closer to his home than his last job. His favorite thing so far about teaching at Avilla is the students because he thinks they are very terrific.

He lives in Pierce City, but he grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania. He moved around a lot, but stayed within Chester County, ending up in the city of Coatesville. He has been married to his wife, Marti, who is and ESOL teacher in Monett, for 19 years and they have four daughters. The oldest is Amanda, and she is a freshman at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO.  His next daughter, Rebekah is a sophomore at Monett High School; Cristin is in eighth grade at Monett Middle School; and his youngest daughter, Emily is in sixth grade at Monett Intermediate School.

His favorite food is Chinese, especially Cashew and General Chicken. His favorite kind of music is Contemporary Christian, and he likes all colors except black and brown because he finds these colors some what depressing. He enjoys doing jigsaw, crossword, and sudoku puzzles; creating music on the piano or saxophone; camping; and hanging out with his family.

If he had a million dollars, he would do several things. First, he would pay cash for a house that would be more optimal for his family and the goals they have together. Next, he would pay cash for some good, reliable cars for himself and his wife, Marti. Then, he would send money to various charitable organizations. He would also put some money back in a savings account for just-in case purposes and finally, he would find some people in need. If he could go anywhere in the world, he would go to Europe because there are many places there he would like to visit.
